At noon on June 12, we held a small farewell gathering for two exchange students from our sister universities—Najla Bator (University of Cologne) and Takushi Uematsu (Ehime University ). Hosted by Director Chu-Sung Hu, the event was filled with great stories as both students shared their favorite moments at KMU.

Najla talked about her time in the operating room, where she observed complex surgical procedures and learned about pre- and postoperative care. Memorable cases like complex brain tumor surgeries made a lasting impression, further fueling her passion for surgery!

Meanwhile, Takushi shared his experience observing GI endoscopy procedures, including gastroscopies and colonoscopies. Regular discussions with physicians and residents gave him a better grasp of clinical decision-making and daily workflows, while also boosting his communication skills in an international setting.

Both Najla and Takushi were deeply touched by the warm hospitality of the KMU family. They described Kaohsiung as a modern yet chill city, and loved exploring the local cuisine, scenery, and culture outside of their clinical training.
We’re so glad to have had them here at KMU. Even though it rained heavily over the past few days, the warmth and enthusiasm on campus never faded. We hope they had wonderful memories and wish them the absolute best in the future!
