Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Atlanta, comes to Meharry to celebrate new relationship

TECO visitors meet with Dr. Hildreth, students and other Meharrians
Director-General Elliot Wang of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office of Atlanta, Georgia recently paid a visit to Meharry Medical College to meet with Meharry President James Hildreth to welcome the establishment of a "close and friendly" relationship between Meharry and TECO to develop possible partnerships in health care research and education, including teaching cooperation, research exchange and culture.
The April 15th meeting also celebrated a memorandum of understanding, or MOU, signed between Meharry and Kaohsiung Medical University on December 18, 2023. By the signing of the MOU, KMU and Meharry agreed to develop a partnership in healthcare research and education, and to promote mutual exchanges among teachers, students and researchers.
These new relationships are the result of Meharry medical students of the Asian Cultural Association during the summer of 2022 expressing interest in having research and exchange with Taiwan.  On November 2, 2022, Economic Director Martin Chen of TECO officially contacted KMU, and recommended Meharry for the agreement.
During 2023, with the cooperation of the Meharry Office of General Counsel, Office of Research and Innovation, the Provost's Office, and all deans, along with the International Office and medical school dean and professors of Kaohsiung Medical University, a memorandum of understanding was drafted and revised through several joint Zoom meetings to assist with the terms and conditions.
