Cooperate with the School of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Thailand, in tropical medicine research and tropical disease prevention and treatment
Mahidol University is the first higher educational institution in Thailand. It was originally the School of Medicine affiliated to Sirila Hospital, founded in 1890. It was transformed to a medical university in 1943 and renamed Mahidol University in 1969 to commemorate Mahidol Adulyadej, the father of modern medicine and public health in Thailand. The school gradually organized colleges such as music, management, religion, and engineering to become Thailand's leading comprehensive research university. The Rockefeller Foundation of the United States has funded the school for more than 10 years, making Mahidol University widely recognized internationally. KMU signed an MOU with Mahidol University in 2018 and became a university-level alliance.
Mahidol University is located in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, and it takes about 30 minutes’ drive from the city center. The surrounding area is sufficient for daily life, and people can also take public transportation to large markets or shopping malls. Bangkok is famous for its multifaceted history and natural culture, where modernity and tradition coexist. You can admire the towering modern buildings, the magnificence of classical Buddhist temples, and the warmth and enthusiasm unique to Bangkok within easy reach.
Mahidol University has always been famous for its research on tropical medicine. Its Faculty of Tropical Medicine specializes in research on tropical medicine-related diseases, vectors, health, social impact, and other aspects. KMU College of Medicine and College of Health Sciences joined the Faculty of Tropical Medicine of Mahidol University to sign an MOU in 2024. We anticipate that the two universities will collaborate on tropical medical research and treatment of tropical diseases to achieve greater achievements in these fields.
